Gallery: three times the fun in Costa Rica
Once you recognise that groups of three are visually among the most interesting photographic subjects you can find, you start to look for them everywhere. But they aren’t always easy to find.
Having participated a couple of times in Mama Cormier’s Thursday Trios I was keen to join in again. So on our recent trip to Costa Rica I kept my eyes open for possible threesomes. Here the ones I spotted.
Three boats on Lake Arenal, waiting to transport tourists en route to Monteverde to the far side of the lake
Three fenceposts on the road to Monteverde; you can just make out Lake Arenal far below on the left side of the photo
Three red flowers at our hotel near La Fortuna, the nearest town to Volcan Arenal
Three flowers by the side of the road in Sant Elena in the Monteverde region
Three birds on a mural, on a shop in Sant Elena town
Three real birds on the Rio Nosara: a Whimbrel and two Willets
Three Great Egrets in the Caño Negra Reserve on the northern border of Costa Rica, near Nicaragua
Three Capuchin Monkeys tucking into lunch, also in the Caño Negra Reserve
Three pineapples at a juice stall in Guinos on the Nicoya Peninsula; my featured photo is of a souvenir stall in the same small beach town
I visited Costa Rica in February 2022
Haven’t ever thought of looking for trios when I take photos. Will keep my open now that you opened them up, Sarah!
I hadn’t thought of it either until I came across this Thursday Trios challenge!
When two is company and three is not a crowd!!!
I said exactly that in a previous Trios post 🙂
Love the logo on the pineapples – go juice yourself. I had to look to see the other two Capuchin monkeys, they were so well camouflaged.
Haha yes – Go Juice is the name of the stall 😀 We had a fabulous juice mix there! And I figured people might have fun searching for all three monkeys!
What a great selection you have here. They were all great but I especially loved the 3 egrets.
Thank you Mari – several people have picked that one out which surprises me as I feel it’s a bit overexposed on the whites and doesn’t do the birds justice!
These trios are so much fun Sarah. I’ve never been to Costa Rica. Maybe some day.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed them 🙂 It’s a lovely country, really worth visiting!
Lovely series Sarah! And very inspirational! Now you have me looking for series for three with my camera the comings weeks 😀
How nice to hear from you Simone 😍 I hope you have fun looking for trios too!
Great selection, and what a fun to look for trios!
It is! I’m enjoying this challenge, it’s a bit different from others I do 🙂
These are wonderful photos! LOVE the boats and red flower!
Thanks Susanne 🙂 I have to confess to cheating a little with the boats as there were four and I had to crop one out of the shot!
Perfect trios! Love the 3 tiny red flowers near your hotel. And your bird pictures are always a winner!
Thanks so much, glad you liked them 😀
The little red flowers are interesting. They look like two separate pieces pinned together at the center with a button. Very unusual.
Yes, I thought they were interesting – they seem to only have two petals!
Wonderful triples Sarah 🙂
Lovely threesomes Sarah…I enjoyed them.
Thank you 😀
Thanks Sue 🙂
Great eye for the trios, Sarah. It’s like me finding doors for Thursday Doors. 🙂 I like the colorful birds, real or not. 🙂
Thank you Janet – yes it does get a bit addictive 😆
Thanks Lesley 😊
Love the Egrets!
Thank you Teresa 😀
What fun! It took me a minute to find your three capuchin monkeys.
Thanks Margaret – I did think that one might challenge people a little 😆
