Once you recognise that groups of three are visually among the most interesting photographic subjects you can find, you start to look for them everywhere. But they aren’t always easy to find.
Having participated a couple of times in Mama Cormier’s Thursday Trios I was keen to join in again. So on our recent trip to Costa Rica I kept my eyes open for possible threesomes. Here the ones I spotted.
Three boats on Lake Arenal, waiting to transport tourists en route to Monteverde to the far side of the lake
Three fenceposts on the road to Monteverde; you can just make out Lake Arenal far below on the left side of the photo
Three red flowers at our hotel near La Fortuna, the nearest town to Volcan Arenal
Three flowers by the side of the road in Sant Elena in the Monteverde region
Three birds on a mural, on a shop in Sant Elena town
Three real birds on the Rio Nosara: a Whimbrel and two Willets
Three Great Egrets in the Caño Negra Reserve on the northern border of Costa Rica, near Nicaragua
Three Capuchin Monkeys tucking into lunch, also in the Caño Negra Reserve
Three pineapples at a juice stall in Guinos on the Nicoya Peninsula; my featured photo is of a souvenir stall in the same small beach town
