Around the world in ten photos: day ten
What a view!
Standing here you feel on top of the world. You are standing at a height of 2,000 metres above sea level. Below you see the road, little more than a track, that you are to follow, winding down through an almost other-worldly volcanic landscape.
Margaret of From Pyrenees to Pennines and Teresa of My Camera & I have both invited me to join them and other bloggers to post one favourite travel picture a day for ten days without explanation, then each day, nominate someone new to join in on the same terms. I don’t usually post a single photo on my blog; I like to tell a story. But for this challenge I’ll resist that temptation and instead play a guessing game with you all. So, does anyone know where this landscape can be seen?
And the answer is, the Hat Mountains of Oman, seen from the viewpoint at Sharaf al Alamayn.
I realise not everyone likes to be nominated for this sort of thing so I’m not nominating any more people. But if anyone else would like to join in the fun, please link back to this post as I’d love to see your photos!

Great view but the countryside looks lonely and a tad desolate. I would never have guessed the correct country but I can appreciate a fantastic view when I see it.

Thanks Amanda 🙂 Yes, it could be described as desolate but I love such places (to visit and photograph, not to live in!) We had an amazing 30 km drive with our guide down through this landscape on somewhat hairy roads – he told us that some visitors ask to turn back because they find the track so scary but I have to say I loved it! I must post more images of that drive one day soon.

Gosh, I was well and truly out of it yesterday. I arrived at my conclusion by Googling appropriate landscapes. Iceland was on my list of possibles, but lower down. This time, I’ll simply throw my hands up and say ‘Dunno!’ Nominating you was an inspiration on my part. You’ve taken us to some fantastic places very much off the tourist trail. Thanks for those virtual journeys.
