Greetings from Sri Lanka
An Oriental Garden Lizard
The Oriental Garden Lizard (Calotes versicolor), known in Sinhala as ‘Gara katussa’, is common throughout much of Sri Lanka. We saw this beauty at the Mudhouse, a unique eco-lodge where we spent a couple of days earlier in this trip. This is a male in his bright breeding colours. They are often seen perched on walls, as this one was, and feed on ants, termites, crickets, grasshoppers etc.

He looks like he’s happy to pose but ready to leave at a moment’s notice.

I did wonder if he’d run off so I took my first photo from a distance but he was happy for us to get a bit closer 😃

I do love a lizard. They look so perky and .. interested. This one certainly does.
Sarah Wilkie
That describes them very well 😄
Teresa
Love the colour. Waiting for more.

Thanks Teresa 😀 WiFi isn’t great at some of the hotels and lodges where we’re staying but I’ll try to post at least once more before we go home, and hopefully more!
