Mirror, mirror on the wall …
Brothers Grimm, Snow White
The magic mirror in the Snow White fairy-tale always told the truth when asked, ‘Who is the fairest one of all?’. And a good mirror will always give a true reflection. But how interesting is that, photographically speaking? Isn’t it more fun to play around with distorted reflections, whether in mirrors or any other surface?
Personally, I love to photograph reflections but hardly ever in mirrors and never in ‘perfect’ ones. Water, windows, or any other shiny object will do! So for Margaret’s Monochrome Madness theme of ‘Mirror’ this week, I’m taking liberties and sharing a much wider range of reflection shots. I’ll start, however, with a few that are in mirrors.
My feature photo is one such, taken in front of an art installation in London’s Docklands development.

All wonderful. Buildings that have mirrored windows make great photos. Also the dome like structures where you can take selfies

Amazing collection! I like the ones where you have captured yourself taking the photograph.

A really wonderful gallery. My favourite section is the reflections in windows: such well-observed choices. I haven’t spotted your Newcastle shot …

Thanks so much Margaret 😊 The Newcastle shot is in the water section, a mere puddle 😉

Some great choices, Sarah! I love the fact that you have ended up with mirrors in so many different surfaces

Thank you Sue 😊 If I’d stuck to conventional mirrors it would be a much smaller collection, and you know I rarely do ‘small’!!

Good for you!
