Oh Lord, give us a sense of humour with courage to manifest it forth, so that we may laugh to shame the pomps, the vanities, the sense of self-importance of the Big Fellows that the world sometimes sends among us, and who try to take our peace away.
Sean O’Casey
We can all think of a few Big Fellows right now who are trying to take our peace away. So yes, we do indeed need a sense of humour. And as photographers we can look for the things that make us laugh through the lens of our cameras.
Sometimes you are aware as you take a photo that it shows something amusing. At other times the humour in the shot only strikes you later. This week’s Lens Artists challenge host, Tina, reminds us that a sense of humour is a valuable thing to have in our present tough times. Indeed, it’s a valuable thing to have at any time. She invites us to look for the humour in our photos, whether intentional or otherwise, and to caption them accordingly.
We had a similar exercise a few years ago, when John asked us to share some humorous shots. So as not to duplicate, for today’s post I’ve had a look through my more recent files to select a few that made me smile.
I couldn’t think of a good caption for my feature photo, taken in Loreto in Baja California Sur, Mexico, but it seemed a good introduction to this post, one that I hope will raise some laughs.

At first I thought the duck with the bottle was alive.
Not to be picky, but that’s Bart Simpson driving the truck, not Homer.
Lots of fun pictures! Thank you for sharing.

Can’t help but follow the crowd and choose the Doppelgänger as my favourite! Closely followed by the small dog. I’m not much good before coffee either.
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Anabel 😊 The Doppelgänger is proving popular as you say, and I have a soft spot for that dog too – I’m always keen to get my first cup of the day!

HA! Great photos, great great captions. Outstanding.

Thank you very much John 😊

Oh, dear Lord! These are hilarious. I could go on and comment on each, but it’d take me the whole day. The weed beer reminded me that in Texas we fry everything and anything. Every year, during the Texas State Fair, there is a competition to see what will win the top prize for frying some food one never thought of before. The bald-headed guy and statue are perfect together. The COVID killed and collagen drink are top notch, too.
Sarah Wilkie
Thanks so much Egidio 😊 I’m really pleased you found them amusing!
Alison

Oh my gosh Sarah, some real treasures in this set! They’re all terrific – what an eye you have for humor. It serves as a great reminder of why we blog – otherwise how would you ever share these!?! I especially loved the doppelgänger, the Covid killer and the skeleton in the bathroom. Fantastic

Thanks so much Tina 😊 I do like looking for odd things to photograph, especially when we travel but also closer to home, so I really enjoyed your challenge!
