Pink seems to me the essentially false and negative colour; because it is the dilution of something that is rich and glowingβ¦. pink suggests nothing but the horrible and blasphemous idea of wine with too much water in itβ¦. the fading of the fire; pink is mere anaemia in the blood of the universe.
G. K. Chesterton
I hate to disagree with an eminent author, but not all pink is anaemic. It too can be βrich and glowingβ. Iβm not a fan of washed-out pastels in general, but pink doesnβt have to be washed out. Hot pinks pop, salmon pinks glow, even delicate pinks shimmer.
I enjoyed creating double exposure yellow flower images for the recent Lens Artists βmellowβ challenge and wanted to play around some more. So Iβve put together a similar gallery of pink flowers for this weekβs Sunday Stills. As before I used Photoshop Elements for all of these, and all of them blend two images taken by me.
An update …
My Color Efex software still isn’t working as a plug-in, although all the other Nik plug-ins are fine. I can use it as a standalone app, so I’m managing OK with that. But it’s a bit more time-consuming so it was good to be able to create more images for this post using just Elements. Meanwhile I have the Happiness Engineers working on my behalf to resolve the issue. I’m keeping my fingers crossed they can do so as I’m working my way through all my Sicily and Malta photos and would love to be able to use Color Efex on a number of those sooner rather than later. But whatever happens, I hope to bring you more images from that trip soon! *
As with the yellow gallery I havenβt captioned these shots; they are too far removed from the originals for any caption to make much sense. But they all started as images of pretty pink flowers taken mainly close to home plus a few from my travels.
xx

* Postscript: the Happiness Engineers just came through for me and the plug-in is fixed. However I can’t really be sorry that the fault gave me the impetus to try something new!

Gorgeous views of pinks, regardless of the creative process that got you there, Sarah! I tolerate pastels, but something about the soft glow of pale pink is inviting. Your gallery is quite stunning and I’m happy to read your editing app is fixed!
