Gallery: what’s in a name? Burgundy / Beaujolais / Ruby reds

A brief extract from one of my favourite poems by one of my favourite poets to introduce a gallery of burgundy-red images. Of course this colour takes its name from a red wine, the French Burgundy, but we might just as well use the name of any other red wine to describe it. Indeed, according to Wikipedia, the French themselves tend to instead call the colour Bordeaux!

Whatever we call it we can find it in so many places, both in nature and man-made. I’ve been away travelling but with Terri’s helpful advance notice of this week’s Sunday Stills theme I trawled through my files before I went and unearthed these images, ready to post on my return.

More about those travels in due course (I was in Seville); for now, I hope you enjoy these ruby reds. You’ll even spot some wine among them!
